Abhay Verma Munjya: The recently released horror comedy ‘Munjya’ has won the hearts of the audience. This low-budget and star-less film received a lot of praise from critics and audiences. With this, ‘Munjya’ ruled the box office for many weeks. Made on a budget of 30 crores, this film has also crossed the figure of almost 100 crores. At the same time, all the credit for this tremendous success of the film has been given to its fun concept, a mix of folklore and horror, as well as the much-loved lead actor Abhay Verma. Had to sell the house after father’s illness
25-year-old Abhay got recognition from ‘The Family Man’. He has played small roles in many films and shows. The actor got a chance to play the lead role in ‘Munjya’ and he did a great job. Recently, in an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, Abhay revealed his middle class upbringing and the financial difficulties he faced.

Abhay told that his father used to run a jewellery shop but when Abhay was in class six, his father got jaundice, which affected his liver and then he was bedridden. The actor told that his mother had to become the breadwinner for his family. Due to rising expenses, the family sold their house to make ends meet. Three years later, Abhay’s father passed away.


For a role, he hid on the streets as a transgender
At the age of 19, Abhay came to Mumbai with the dream of becoming an actor. His elder brother Abhishek had also worked in TV shows. After some struggle, Abhay started getting roles. In the year 2022, he signed on to play the role of a transgender in the film Safed. To prepare for this role, Abhay moved to Varanasi and lived there for several weeks as a transgender. In his interview with Bhaskar, the actor revealed that once a group of boys wanted to attack him at night. He had to reveal his real identity to escape. Let us tell you that directed by Sandeep Singh, Safed was streaming on Zee5 last year.

‘Munjya’ brought him stardom
Abhay’s career started with playing the supporting role of Kalyan in the second season of Manoj Bajpayee-starrer The Family Man. Even though he appeared on screen for only 3-4 scenes, his acting was praised. Now Munjya has given him stardom. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the film also stars Sharvari and Mona Singh. The film has grossed Rs 123 crore worldwide and is still doing well in theatres.
